Sustainability at Gram Slot
For us, sustainability is about wholeness and responsibility. About making choices that make sense – not just here and now, but also for those who come after us. This applies to agriculture, in the kitchen and in the way we run and share Gram Slot. We work with nature as a partner, think long-term rather than fast, and believe that the best solutions grow out of respect for the land, people and community.
Regenerative agriculture
– when the earth gains new life
The direction is clear: an agriculture that works with nature instead of against it. Through regenerative principles, the focus has shifted from short-term yield to long-term fertility. This means, among other things, greater attention to the life of the soil, more crops in the crop rotation, more variety and space for the wild.
The goal is to strengthen biodiversity – both above and below the ground. When the soil is healthy, crops are stronger, food is better, and the landscape is richer. It is work that requires patience, curiosity, and the courage to take new paths, even if the results can only be seen in the long term.
Biodiversity as a basic condition
In the fields, in the fences and in the landscape around the castle, biodiversity is not a project – it is a basic condition. Space is given to insects, birds and wild plants, because a living agriculture requires a living ecosystem. Nature is allowed to make a little noise, fill up a little and take its place.
This is where the wholeness arises: when agriculture, nature and people are interconnected in one common cycle.
